The Breakthrough

Blockx closed 2025 as an unbeaten Next Gen ATP Finals debutant until the final, where the man he had beaten in the 2023 Australian Open boys' final, Learner Tien, returned the favour in Jeddah. He carried that December form straight into the new season: at the Canberra Challenger in January 2026 he recovered from 1–4 down in the second set of the final against Rafael Jodar, winning five straight games to take the title 6–4, 6–4 — his fourth Challenger crown — and with it his first taste of the ATP top 100, debuting at No. 95 on 12 January.

The climb did not stop there. That spring, a late call-up into the Madrid Open draw turned into a run to the semifinals — including his first top-10 win, over Felix Auger-Aliassime, and a defeat of defending champion Casper Ruud — vaulting the Belgian from the edge of the top 100 to No. 36 in under four months.
