The Breakthrough

Semenistaja built her game the long way: sixteen ITF singles titles, most of them on clay, including a circuit-leading seven in 2021 alone. The payoff came in 2025. Ranked No. 165 in early April, she won the Solgironès Open on Spanish clay — her second WTA 125 crown after Mumbai in 2024 — then qualified directly into her first Grand Slam main draw at the US Open. By 20 October she was inside the top 100 for the first time, at No. 90, and a week later she set her career high of No. 87.

"The biggest change is that I've become more aggressive as a player." — On her evolution, Mumbai Open press, February 2026 (IANS)

After slipping back outside the top 110 in the spring of 2026, she returned to the surface that made her. A first tour-level quarterfinal in Bogotá was followed in early June by a run to the Makarska WTA 125 final on Croatian clay — the result that powered her roughly 20-spot climb back to No. 102 in the week Rising Tennis Tracker featured her.
