In February 2024, Díaz Acosta entered his hometown ATP 250 in Buenos Aires as a wildcard ranked well outside the seedings — and left with the trophy, beating third seed Nicolás Jarry 6-3, 6-4 in the final without dropping a set all tournament. To steady himself in the biggest match of his life, he leaned on the memory of his Pan American Games final in Santiago a few months earlier, where he had won gold with the whole crowd against him. The title vaulted him into the top 60 and, by April, to a career-high No. 47.

What followed was the harder story: a 2025 slide that ended with him ranked No. 213. His answer has been the most prolific Challenger season of 2026 — titles in Tigre, São Leopoldo, Francavilla al Mare and Milan, the last of them won through three tiebreak sets against Marco Cecchinato — a streak that has carried the left-hander steadily back up the rankings and was rewarding him with roughly twenty-place jumps in single weeks by June.
