The Breakthrough

Vandewinkel ended 2025 ranked outside the top 130, splitting her time between the ITF Circuit and a medicine degree she has scaled back to a single course per semester. Then came a winter surge with almost no precedent in her career: back-to-back hard-court titles at the W75 in Pune and the W100 in Bengaluru — where she dismantled home favourite Vaishnavi Adkar 6-0, 6-1 in the final — followed immediately by a third straight trophy at the W75 in Trnava. That run stretched to 15 consecutive match wins with only two sets dropped, and it hoisted her into the top 105 by early March.

The momentum carried into April: a WTA-main-draw win over Marie Bouzkova on her tour debut in Bogotá, a top-100 debut, and the signature result of her season — beating world No. 16 Iva Jovic in straight sets in front of a home crowd in Ostend to put Belgium ahead of the United States in Billie Jean King Cup qualifying. By 20 April she stood at a career-high No. 92, and by June she was making her Grand Slam main-draw debuts at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
