The Breakthrough

Quevedo was born in Naples, Florida and came up through American junior tennis, but her father is Canarian and in 2024 she began representing Spain. The decision looks better every month. In January 2026 she qualified in Auckland for her first WTA main draw and beat eighth seed Peyton Stearns. In April, on a squad missing Badosa, Bucsa and Bouzas, she won both her singles rubbers on her Billie Jean King Cup debut and put Spain into the Finals — three years after becoming a citizen. Days later she took a Madrid wildcard and beat Venus Williams 6–2, 6–4. At Roland Garros she qualified again, won her first Grand Slam main-draw match against Leolia Jeanjean, and pushed seventh seed Elina Svitolina in round two.

On 13 July 2026 the accumulated results finally tipped her over the line: a debut inside the WTA top 100 at exactly No. 100, at the age of 20, joining three compatriots in the hundred. She had, as the Spanish press put it, been knocking on that door for months.
