The Breakthrough

A sudden back injury during Roland Garros qualifying in 2025 took the Sing Buri native — nicknamed "Mai", playing since age four — off the tour for roughly six months: three of them without hitting a ball, filled instead with Thai songs learned on the guitar. Her ranking slid from a career-high No. 100 to No. 164. The comeback landed at Wimbledon 2026: she saved three match points against Océane Dodin in final qualifying, beat Roland Garros finalist Maja Chwalińska 2–6, 7–5, 6–2 for her first Grand Slam main-draw win, dispatched Alycia Parks 7–5, 6–0, and became only the second Thai woman ever to reach the Wimbledon third round, after Tamarine Tanasugarn, before falling to Karolína Muchová.

The climb has not stopped since. Already a WTA 125 champion in February — she beat Lilli Tagger 6–4, 6–3 in Mumbai to shed her runner-up tag from 2025 — she added a Vancouver 125 semifinal in late July (falling only to eventual champion Taylah Preston) and then qualified for her first WTA 1000 main draw in Cincinnati, beating Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva and compatriot Lanlana Tararudee back-to-back. From No. 164 in early July she now stands at No. 105, knocking on the door of the career-high No. 100 she set in June 2025.
