The Breakthrough

The 6'4" right-hander from Nagoya is the 2024 Australian Open boys' champion — only the second Japanese boys' junior major winner after fellow RTT alumnus Shintaro Mochizuki — and a former junior world No. 1. Based at IMG Academy in Florida since age 15 and coached by Federico Ricci, he has made a habit of celebrating wins by unsheathing an imaginary samurai sword. The climb has been steep: outside the top 800 in mid-2024, he collected Challenger titles in Yokkaichi, Cary and Yokohama on the way to a career-high No. 148 in June 2026.

2026 brought the milestones. In January he qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw at the Australian Open, routing Dan Evans 6–1, 6–2 along the way, and pushed Rafael Jódar to five sets in the first round. In March came his first ATP Tour — and Masters 1000 — match win, over No. 92 Aleksandar Kovacevic at the Miami Open, before he took the first set off world No. 10 Daniil Medvedev. Fresh off a quarterfinal at the Lexington Challenger, where he beat former top-100 Michael Mmoh, the 20-year-old — who runs a YouTube channel called REIVOLUTION — sits at No. 165 and is knocking on the top-150 door again.
