The Breakthrough

Jamrichová's 2024 was one of the great junior seasons of the decade. In January, the 16-year-old top seed beat home favourite Emerson Jones on Rod Laver Arena for the Australian Open girls' title, firing six aces and saving five of six break points. In July she beat Jones again in the Wimbledon final — 66 minutes, a 91% first-serve rate in the opening set, and just one unforced error across it — to become the first Slovak winner of the title and the first player of either era since Annabel Croft in 1984 to take the Australian Open and Wimbledon junior crowns in the same year. She announced on court that Wimbledon would be her last junior event.

"I just told myself, just be happy on the court and enjoy every point." — After winning the 2024 Australian Open girls' title, ausopen.com

The professional transition has been quick by the standards of the ITF circuit. Ranked around No. 546 when she lifted the Wimbledon junior trophy, she had already banked two top-100 wins and two ITF titles, and within fifteen months she had cut her ranking to a career-high No. 217 — with qualifying appearances at the Australian Open and Wimbledon along the way. At home in Slovakia she has practised with former Australian Open semifinalist Daniela Hantuchová.
